Afghanistan agencies reform business licensing process

The ministries and agencies responsible for regulating businesses in Afghanistan say they have “streamlined” the registration and licensing process, reducing the time it takes for Afghan businesses to obtain licenses from one month to two days, according to TOLO News.

Muzammil Shinwari, the Deputy Minister of Commerce and Industries, said that with the implementation of the new reforms, the businessmen may get commercial licenses easily in just a couple of days and the number of signatures required for the process has dropped from eighteen to ten, which may make the issuing process take less than a day in some cases.

As most foreign investors in Afghanistan work with Afghan-owned enterprises, these reforms could mark a huge improvement in the investment climate there.
